A Note from the Founder

For most of my life, I've been donning the corporate "suit" and immersing myself in the world of business performance, profit increases, and infrastructure building. However, amidst the hustle and bustle, the highlight of my day, every day, has been coming home to my beloved Collies. And so, after three decades of the corporate grind, I decided to embark on a new adventure - I traded in the corporate world for the simple life on the land and purchased a farm.

My girls, Molly and Missy, are more than just pets; they are Border Collies – a breed that's deeply intelligent, incredibly energetic, and absolutely lovable. And like me, although they can tolerate city life, it's not their true calling. These pups are hard-wired to run, work, and herd, and the farm has become their haven for spending weekends doing what they were born to do, so that they can go back to the city feeling utterly fulfilled during the week.

And that's where Collie Farm Stays comes into play – a haven where Collies can be Collies, just like my Molly and Missy.

I extend a warm invitation to your Collie to join me and my girls on a Farm Stay adventure, where they can fully embrace their natural instincts and do precisely what they were born for. It's a getaway that promises satisfaction, fun, and a taste of the true Collie life.

The Farm

Nestled deep in the heart of the picturesque Mansfield Shire, our magnificent farm sprawls across 10 acres of rolling hills. These lush green pastures play host to a delightful ensemble of sheep and alpacas, creating a perfect playground for herding escapades, agility training, refreshing dam swims, and carefree sprints.

Your Collies will have the time of their lives while making friends with the amiable locals, including koalas, wombats, and kangaroos. Our location offers immediate access to breathtaking off-leash hikes around The Paps and along the winding Delatite River. And for convenience, we're just a stone's throw away from town, ensuring easy access to essentials, with the added benefit of a close partnership with the local country VET.

Our diverse farm is home to an array of animals, from our fluffy sheep and charming alpacas to the lively guinea fowl and quacking ducks. It's a unique experience for your Collies to explore, learn, and have a blast.

At our farm we have wide-open spaces, endless blue skies, and an abundance of fresh, invigorating air. No coups or cages – just pure, unadulterated freedom for your furry friends to thrive.

Why Sheep Herding?

Border Collies have a natural talent for herding, and it's deeply rooted in their genes. While they don't absolutely need to be on a farm herding sheep, it's an environment where they truly shine for a few reasons:

  1. Fulfilling Instincts: Herding is what Border Collies were initially bred for. It's in their nature, and it gives them a sense of purpose and satisfaction.

  2. Mental Stimulation: Herding sheep involves problem-solving and precise control, which provides them with mental stimulation. Border Collies are incredibly intelligent, and they thrive on mentally engaging tasks.

  3. Physical Activity: Herding can be physically demanding, which aligns well with the high energy levels of Border Collies. They need regular exercise to stay healthy and happy.

  4. Bonding: Working closely with humans and other animals on a farm strengthens their social skills and helps to work through some of those trademark Border Collies quirks.

Give your Collie an opportunity to experience their true calling.
